Messinia Destination Network
Independent initiative. Connected bases. One coherent coastal experience.
An entrepreneurial initiative
Surf Salad initiated the network without a commission or institutional funding. It began alongside Costa Navarino in 2010 and expanded to additional bases from 2013, bringing a shared activity offer to different coastal settings.
A network that worked together
Costa Navarino, Navarino Kite at Romanos and Lagouvardos were distinct bases. Voidokilia and Chrysi Akti were excursion locations. Shared bookings, staff and equipment, cross-referrals and weather-dependent guest transfers connected the locations in practice.
The network totals of up to 17 staff and approximately 2,000 visitors per season include Costa Navarino's up to 12 staff and approximately 1,500 guests. These figures must not be added together.
Community and destination recognition
The four Navarino Kite Festival editions, from 2011 to 2014, introduced at least 1,000 people to the area for the first time. Across all operating periods the network welcomed more than 5,000 visitors, including festival visitors; these are Surf Salad team estimates.
Today, Lagouvardos Surf Club continues under Surf Salad. Lagouvardos has become an established meeting point for Greece's surf community.
